Jasprit Bumrah’s Game-Changing Bowling Moments in IPL

Jasprit Bumrah's Game-Changing Bowling Moments in IPL

Mumbai Indians’ star pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah ended IPL 2025 as one of the top-performing bowlers for his side. He finished the season, scalping 18 wickets in 12 innings, with an amazing economy rate of just 6.67 and a brilliant strike rate of 15.7, including a four-wicket haul.

He also produced some outstanding and game-changing performances for MI in a few crucial games. With that said, here we’ll have a look at the top 3 game-changing moments of Jasprit Bumrah in IPL 2025.

Dismissing MS Dhoni to stop the flow of runs

The Mumbai Indians were taking on the Chennai Super Kings in the 38th game of the tournament at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on April 20. CSK were batting first after MI decided to bowl first after winning the toss. The yellow outfits were looking in a comfortable position when skipper MS Dhoni came to bat.

But it was Bumrah in the 19th over of the innings who dismissed Dhoni on the fourth ball of the over. Dhoni was caught by Tilak Varma off Jasprit Bumrah, at the individual score of just 4 runs off six balls, and it eventually restricted CSK’s score to 176 runs at 5 wicket loss. The target was easily chased down by MI later in the second innings.

Dismissing Heinrich Klaasen for 37(28), stopped SRH from potentially adding runs at death

MI and SRH faced each other in the 33rd game of the tournament at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, where MI opted to bowl first after winning the toss. SRH got a good start by the openers, Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma, scoring 59 runs in 7.3 overs. But they faced a sudden collapse before Heinrich Klaasen showed a bit of resilience.

Klaasen scored 37 runs off 28 balls, with three fours and two sixes, before Jasprit Bumrah trapped him in a clean-bowled dismissal.

Dismissing Washington Sundar in the Eliminator, which changed the entire complexion of the match

Mumbai Indians faced Gujarat Titans in the all-important Eliminator game of the tournament. Hardik Pandya’s men posted a big total of 228 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in the allotted 20 overs, courtesy of former skipper Rohit Sharma’s explosive 81 runs off just 50 balls, with nine fours and four sixes.

While chasing the target in the second innings, the Titans were easily heading towards the win, scoring 151 runs for the loss of two wickets. Washington Sundar and Sai Sudharsan were firmly scoring runs there in the middle. But then came a toe-crushing yorker from Jasprit Bumrah on the fourth ball of the 14th over that ended Washington Sundar’s blistering 48-run knock, which he scored off just 24 balls, with five fours and three sixes.

It was the start of a middle-order collapse for GT, which eventually restricted them to a score of 208 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in the entire 20 overs. Finally, MI won the game by 20 runs, and Jasprit Bumrah’s game-changing dismissal of Washington Sundar played a vital role in this win.
