IPL 2025: Predicting PBKS’ playing XI for their clash against DC

Punjab Kings will clash against Delhi Capitals in match number 58 of the eighteenth edition of the Indian Premier League at the HPCA Stadium.

Both teams have a playoff spot in their sights as the tournament nears its business end. While Punjab Kings sits at a comfortable second place with 15 points after 11 matches, Delhi Capitals are just outside the playoff zone with 13 points in the same number of fixtures. This is the first time both teams will compete against each other this season. Both teams will be looking to add two points to their kitty and get a step closer to the playoff spot. In the previous 33 encounters between the two sides, Delhi Capitals have won 16 while Punjab Kings have been victorious 17 times.

Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh have been fairly successful this season. Both the batters have contributed immensely to the team’s success by scoring 347 and 437 runs respectively. Shreyas Iyer has brilliantly played the role of an anchor and has been ably supported by young left-handed batter Wadhera. The management is likely to retain the top batting order.

All-rounders

Shashank Singh and S Shedge, young Indian all-rounders are anticipated to continue shouldering the responsibility of finishing the innings and bowling a few overs in the middle phase of the opposition’s innings. Besides, both are fantastic fielders and add a lot of value when on the field. They will be expected to fire against the likes of Mitchel Stark and Kuldeep Yadav if the needs arise.

Bowlers

The bowling attack will be led by two left-handed seamers, Arshdeep Singh and Marco Jansen, who have picked up 16 wickets and 11 wickets respectively. Harpreet Brar and Yuzvendra Chahal will shoulder the responsibility of spin in the middle overs. Chahal is expected to provide breakthroughs against the hard-hitting batters of Delhi.
