IPL 2024: Predicting Chennai Super Kings’ Playing XI for their clash against Lucknow Super Giants

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will be looking for their revenge on the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) who defeated them in their previous encounter in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL). CSK’s poor bowling and batting led to LSG’s victory by eight wickets. Considering CSK’s balanced team, the collapse from the batters wasn’t expected. Moreover, the bowlers also didn’t perform well during the middle overs because of which LSG won the match quite comfortably. Hence, CSK will be looking to mend their ways in order to survive in the tournament.

Let’s discuss the playing XI of CSK ahead of the clash against LSG:

Top Order

Ruturaj Gaikwad

While Rachin Ravindra and Ajinkya Rahane are opening the innings for CSK, captain Ruturaj Gaikwad comes at No.1. While the openers haven’t fired up yet, Rahane’s performance in the last match was a sign of relief for CSK and they will definitely want him to play such innings frequently. Coming to Rachin Ravindra, he hasn’t been performing for the past few games and it’s high time for him to get back to form and help CSK win the match. A good start is what CSK has been missing this year and will hope to get that in the next half of the tournament.

Middle Order

Ravindra Jadeja

With Moeen Ali returning to the side, CSK’s middle order now has Shivam Dube, Ravindra Jadeja and Mahendra Singh Dhoni to handle the middle overs and the death overs for the team. Thankfully, all the players are in red-hot form and will be looking forward to continuing the same in the upcoming matches. CSK’s strong batting line-up will be the reason behind their victories in the rest of the matches.

Bowlers

Deepak Chahar

CSK is going with four pacers in the likes of Deepak Chahar, Tushar Deshpande, Matheesha Pathirana and Mustafizur Rahman. After playing well in the six matches, CSK bowlers failed to perform in the match against LSG. They couldn’t pick one wicket at the start which helped the LSG batters settle down. Hence, in the upcoming matches, CSK will expect their bowlers to get to their strengths which will help them in the later half of the tournament.
