How Australia will handle England’s fiery ‘Bazball’ in Ashes 2023

How Australia will handle England's fiery 'Bazball' in Ashes 2023

On June 7, The Oval will host India and Australia for the World Test Championship final after which the red-ball action will move to the Ashes. As Australia tries to win the illustrious series outside of Australia for the first time in 22 years, the five-Test Ashes series against England, which starts on June 16, has already been in the headlines for the past few weeks.

The Ashes 2023 series, which will start on June 16, 2023, will be played in England where the first test will be played at Edgbaston. It all culminates at The Oval for the fifth Ashes Test, which, if it goes to Day 5, will end on Monday, July 31, 2023. England recently clashed against Ireland for a single Test match which they convincingly won by 10 wickets in just 3 days.

Although England lost the last Ashes series 4-0 in Australia, it has subsequently won 10 of its last 12 tests under Brendon McCullum’s leadership and with Ben Stokes serving as captain. The pair assisted the club in using the aggressive style of play known as “Bazball.”

How will Australia tackle England’s ‘Bazball’?

Australia will be facing England for the first time since the English team have approached ‘Bazball’. The England cricket team has already cleared that they will be playing with the same approach and to tackle it, Australia can do the similar things as there are not many ways to stop this approach. Scoring fast against England would be very beneficial for the Stokes-led team.

The other way in which the Kangaroos can stop the English side would be restricting the openers to stitch a big partnership and get rid of them under the first 10 overs of the innings. After which, they will have to take wickets continuously as the upcoming batters will play with the same style and will not be depending on the defence too much. This would also be difficult for England to score quickly against the mighty Australian bowling side.
