Highest score by no 7 batters in ODI

One of the most famous formats of cricket is One Day Internationals as the modern era of cricket needs a new strategy as well as policies according to which the game needs to be played. In modern-era cricket, every batting position holds different significance as it is seen that the batting drills also differ for these situations.

A player who usually bats in these positions needs to have the ability to hit sixes right from first delivery as well as also possess the ability to chip in with some useful overs whenever the team needs from him. Similarly, the batting of number 7 in modern-day cricket is given to a player who is basically an all-rounder.  Let us now look at the highest score by number 7 batters in ODIs;

1. Luke Ronchi (170*)

One of the rarest group of players who have played cricket for two nations. Luke Ronchi was born in New Zealand but his upbringing was mostly in Australia. This is the reason why Rochi represented both Australia as well as New Zealand in the latter half of his cricketing career. It was in his international stint with the New Zealand national side when the 42-year-old registered his highest individual score in the ODI format.

His monumental feat from the Ronchi is to date the best inning for any number 7 batter in the 50 overs match. The former New Zealand batter came into bat in a situation where the team were reeling at 93/5 in the 20 overs. Then Ronchi along with Grant Elliott stitched a valuable partnership of 267 runs. The wicketkeeper batter was the chief destructor in this partnership as the right-hand batter played a brilliant inning of 170 not out which is by far the highest individual score for any batter at number 7.

2. Marcus Stoinis (146*)

Marcus Stoinis is one of the most powerful and clean hitters of the cricket ball in the modern era of cricket. The right-hand batter with his ability to ball whenever the team needs him makes him a valuable asset for any team which he plays for. The 34-year-old all-rounder achieved the historic feat of registering the second-highest individual run by a number seven batter.

In a match against New Zealand, the star Australian all-rounder scored an unbeaten 146 runs in a run chase of 287 runs to win. However, this valiant effort from Stoinis did not help Australia cross the line and win the match.

3. Thisara Perera (140)

Thisara Perera was one of the most devastating bowling all-rounders that Sri Lanka has ever produced. The 34-year-old player was known for his brilliant death bowling as well as his devastating lower-middle-order batting.

In a match against New Zealand, the southpaw went berserk as the Sri Lankan side were chasing a mammoth target of 319 runs to win. Unfortunately, Sri Lanka could not chase down the target but the match would be remembered for the heroics of Perera who smashed 140 runs in just 74 deliveries.
