Champions Trophy 2025: Predicting Australia’s Playing XI for their clash against Afghanistan

Champions Trophy 2025 has taken a great turn in Group A as three teams are waiting in line for two available spots in the semi-finals. Only two teams out of Australia, Afghanistan, and South Africa will qualify. Australia will clash against Afghanistan on February 28, which will decide the fate of the tournament.

From the other group, New Zealand and India have qualified for the semi-finals. The upcoming game between the mighty Aussies and Afghanistan will be extremely interesting as both teams are in red-hot form and will look to destroy each other on the field.

Here is the predicted Australia’s Playing XI for their clash against Afghanistan:

Top Order

Matthew Short

Matthew Short, Travis Head, and Steve Smith are the top-order batters for Australia. While Short has been stunning in the tournament, the other two batters are yet to fire up and the upcoming clash is no better place to do it. Australia will need a high score to beat Afghanistan in the do-or-die game.

Middle Order

Marnus Labuschagne

Marnus Labuschagne, Josh Inglis, Alex Carey, and Glenn Maxwell are the middle-order batters. They have to hold the innings really well in the upcoming game. They have been brilliant in the tournament, but the upcoming game will require more effort. The middle overs are the main time when Australia will have to be careful because Afghanistan’s bowling is quite strong.

Bowlers

Ben Dwarshui

Ben Dwarshuis, Nathan Ellis, Adam Zampa, and Spencer Johnson are the main bowlers of the team. Ellis was wonderful against England and the same energy will be required in the upcoming game as well. Moreover, Zampa will come in handy because of the pitch conditions.
