Champions Trophy 2025: 3 reasons why England lost against Australia

The fourth game of the Champions Trophy 2025 was between Australia and England which started on a great note but ended up being a one-sided thriller. The mighty Aussies chased off a huge total of 352 runs, thanks to Josh Inglis’ century in the game. He was just brilliant with the bat, smashing the bowlers all around the park. At one point it looked like Australia was out of the game when they lost a few wickets in the middle overs. However, Inglis saved the day for the team. There were a few reasons behind England’s defeat in the game against Australia.

Here are the reasons why England lost against Australia:

Poor bowling attack

England’s bowling played a huge role in the game. After taking two quick wickets, it seemed like they were back in the game. However, they didn’t bowl the right line and length which paved the way for Inglis in the middle overs. The middle-order batters of Australia smashed the bowlers out of the park quite confidently.

Fielding errors

The Three Lions team made a lot of mistakes during the fielding as well. There were a lot of dropped catches and misfields which could have been avoided. Had the fielding been good, England would have won the game quite easily since the score was too high.

Poor captaincy

Jos Buttler is one of the best captains of England but this time, his bowling and fielding changes didn’t favour the team. He could have rotated the bowlers better but failed to do so which cost them the game.
