Australia’s Top 3 performers from WTC 2025 Final

On June 14, South Africa defeated Australia by a record-breaking five wickets in the World Test Championship final, ending a 27-year drought for an ICC trophy at Lord’s. Chasing 282, the second-highest fourth-inning chase in WTC final history, the Proteas put on a show that was full of determination, poise, and a long-overdue sense of fairness.

For the second time, Australia played the WTC Final, and was out of the fight, but Aiden Markram’s century in the fourth innings helped South Africa to win the trophy. Even though Australian players tried their best they ended up failing to defend in, and end the Test Match in WTC 2025. Hence, on that note, we look at Australia’s Top 3 performers from the WTC 2025 Final.

1. Beau Webster 72 in the 1st innings:

Beau Webster was playing the World Test Championship final for the first and his innings of 72 runs provided Australia a strong support in the first innings. Asked to bat first, Australia was in trouble until Steve Smith came to bat. In the end, Smith had a little help from Travis Head, but Marco Jasen got Head out. Later, Steve Smith and Beau Webster together put up a solid 79-run partnership. A 72-run performance from Beau Webster helped the team to cross the 200-run mark.

2. Pat Cummins 6 wickets:

In the first innings, Pat Cummins had the most success with his bowling as he picked up 6 wickets. The captain led the team from the front and restricted South Africa to a score of 138 runs. Pat Cummins’s bowling was a game-changer for the team and did not give South Africa a chance to take the lead in the match.

3. Mitchell Starc 58* runs in the second innings:

Australia again found themselves in a struggling spot in the innings, but Mitchell Starc gave the team a sight to breathe. Alex Carey and Josh Hazlewood made some key partnerships with Mitchell Starc. At the time, it looked like Australia would not cross the 200 runs mark, but Mitchell Starc’s batting helped the team to put up a total of 282 runs to win.
