3 South Africa players to watch out for in their clash against West Indies in T20 World Cup 2024

South Africa will take on West Indies in their second Super 8 match as they aim to continue their unbeaten run in the 2024 T20 World Cup. South Africa, who finished the league stage as Group D table toppers, defeated the United States (USA) and England in the Super Eights. They are just one more win away from securing a spot in the semi-finals. 

West Indies are coming on the back of an emphatic nine-wicket win against the USA. The co-hosts’ only loss was against England in their first Super 8 clash. Fans can expect a thrilling game of cricket as two of the strongest units are set to clash at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in North Sound, Antigua. 

Here are three South Africa players to watch out for in the WI vs SA clash:

3. Quinton de Kock

Quinton de Kock has had a lacklustre start to his World Cup campaign. He completely struggled to find runs in the group stage, but things were not the same when he entered the Super 8 phase. The keeper-batter was adjudged Player of the Match in the last two matches against the United States and England, scoring 74 and 65 respectively. de Kock will once again be in the spotlight as South Africa prepare for a must-win game.

2. Kagiso Rabada 

Kagiso Rabada has taken nine wickets in six matches so far. Five of those came in the Super 8 stage, showing that he is thoroughly enjoying the Caribbean conditions. Notably, it was at the same venue Rabada grabbed three wickets against the USA at an economy of just 4.50. South Africa will rely heavily on Rabada in the upcoming match against the West Indies, who have some dangerous hitters in their line-up.

1. David Miller 

David Miller has amassed 144 runs in six matches, playing a key role in South Africa’s unbeaten run so far. His 28-ball 43 was crucial in a narrow seven-run win against defending champions England. Miller has played similar impactful knocks in previous matches as well. He is one of the most reliable batters when the going gets tough. South Africa’s hopes rest on the southpaw in a crucial match against the West Indies.
