3 reasons why SRH might not make it to the IPL 2025 playoffs

3 reasons why SRH might not make it to the IPL 2025 playoffs

The Sunrisers Hyderabad are currently in the ninth spot in the Indian Premier League 2025. Pat Cummins and his men have marked just two victories so far while losing five matches, placing them in the second-to-last spot of the points table. The side needs to win the remaining seven matches if they aim to seal the playoff spot, which seems quite impossible due to many reasons.

The side had a stellar edition in the IPL 2024, but they failed to maintain their winning streak in the IPL 2025. They have had a great start this year, beating RR and sending shockwaves to the rest of the nine franchises. Surprisingly, they were toppled in other matches. Given below are the three reasons that showcase why SRH might not seal the playoffs spot this time.

1. Inconsistent batters

The side has the best batters on their team, but they aren’t consistent. Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head showcased their form in just two matches on their home turf but failed to step up and adapt to new conditions on other pitches. In addition, left-handed batter Ishan Kishan made a century in his opening game but was mostly dismissed in single digits. Nitish Reddy and dangerous batter Heinrich Klassen, who were expected to play a finisher role, failed.

2. Lack of bowling support for Pat Cummins

Skipper Pat Cummins, who was once known as Australia’s dangerous pacer, faltered here completely. KKR’s star batter Venkatesh Iyer made bold headlines when he chipped in 21 runs in his 19th over. Even local Indian players have executed hits in Cummins’ bowling. The SRH skipper failed to live up to his bowling expectations.

3. Absence of an anchor

The side completely lacks the batters who can stitch the partnership here for them. Notably, opener Sharma and Head stitched up the stand in just one game while they failed to give the start. Kishan was not able to find the form at the third place, nor was he able to stitch a partnership with any top-order or lower-order batters. After him, Heinrich Klassen and Nitish Reddy failed to contribute to the team. Even Pat Cummins, Rahul Chahar, and Harshal Patel, who possess the ability to hit the shots at the lower order, failed with their batting performances.
