3 reasons why RCB can let go of Glenn Maxwell ahead of IPL 2025 mega auction

3 reasons why RCB can let go of Glenn Maxwell ahead of IPL 2025 mega auction

In the upcoming IPL 2025, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will be confused about which player should be retained and which should be released. The franchise has had some great players in the past, but none could help them win a trophy in the last 17 years, which is a heartbreaking thing. Except for the trophy, the team has been really good and has made some major records under their name.

Moreover, RCB’s Virat Kohli is the leading run-scorer in IPL and is also the only player to play the most number of matches for a single franchise. He has been with the team since 2008 and showed what loyalty means differently. But Glenn Maxwell was a great player for the franchise who had played some brilliant innings for the team. Now that the mega auction is approaching, the team will have to let go of Maxwell, and there are solid reasons behind that.

Let’s check out the top three reasons why RCB should leave Maxwell ahead of the mega auction:

1. Poor outing in the last season

Glenn Maxwell’s outing in the previous season wasn’t good, as he didn’t play well. Plus, he took a mental break between the tournament, which wasn’t a good call at all. RCB was struggling to qualify, and he left the team in the middle, which might affect his retention. Also, he didn’t score well in the tournament when it was needed the most.

2. Spin all-rounder spot filled

RCB owners might go for Will Jacks instead of Maxwell because he has proven his worth and might come out as a good investment. Moreover, he’s a good all-rounder who bats well and bowls off break mystically, which gets him wicket. Hence, the franchise might go for Will Jacks rather than Maxwell.

3. No retention spot left

RCB will go for Virat Kohli, Rajat Patidar, Will Jacks, or Faf du Plessis for retention, so there is no space for Maxwell in the team. Additionally, paying money to get Maxwell back on the team is something the team wouldn’t do, considering his inconsistent performance in the past.
