3 reasons why Rajasthan Royals lost to Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2025

The Indian Premier League (IPL) has been celebrating its 18th season this year. It has been a great start for the teams as in the opening match the defending Champions, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) had to face defeat by the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). It was a wonderful match to watch for the fans at the prestigious Eden Gardens.

Following this, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) faced off against the Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad. The Sunrisers Hyderabad team emerged victorious in their home ground, setting a massive target of 286, which is the second highest score in the history of IPL.

Here are the reasons why RR lost to SRH:

1. Second highest score in IPL history: SRH has been known for their powerful batting line-up, which was very much evident during their encounter against RR. Ishan Kishan, was regarded as the star batter for the match, as he was able to secure 106 runs in 46 balls  for the Hyderabad team. Besides this, Travis Head was also showing his exceptional prowess by scoring 67 runs out of 31 balls, giving SRH a big edge to set the run chase at 287.

2. RR’s performance during the powerplay: RR’s performance during the powerplay was sub-par. They lost three wickets during their powerplay. Resulting into a widespread loss for the team. Dhruv Jurel and Sanju Samson were seen struggling as they collapsed after managing to score half-centuries. 

3. Batting in the hot conditions: Teams batting in the hot conditions have an edge to win and score runs. Even after winning the toss, RR took a gamble by letting SRH bat first. The match turned out to be in their favour as SRH played a wonderful innings in the first part of the match in their homeland.
