The experienced Harmanpreet Kaur has been going through a lean patch in terms of run-scoring. The MI skipper performed really well last season as she amassed 281 runs in 9 innings at an average of 40.14. She played some crucial knocks in the previous campaign and the fans would be expecting similar batting exploits from their captain this season as well. There will also be the pressure of defending the title but Harman has the experience of rising to the occasion and it will be very important for the franchise that the skipper does her job to perfection.

The hard-hitting batter from West Indies, Hayley Mathews, was among the highest run-scorers in the inaugural season of the WPL. Her destructive approach helped Mumbai cruise past opponents with the bat. She was instrumental for Mumbai not just with the bat but had an influential impact with the ball as well. In the last season, she scored 271 runs and also picked up 16 wickets. Her all-round profile provides depth and balance to the playing XI which makes her one of the most important players for Mumbai Indians.
