India’s highly anticipated tour of England is set to commence on June 20th. The Indian team will kick off their World Test Championship Cycle for 2025-2027 with a five-match Test series against England. With both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli having retired from the game’s most challenging format, this tour will serve as a significant test for India’s young batting order. It will also present an opportunity for both new and returning players to establish themselves within the team.
BCCI recently announced the India A squad, which will tour England to face the English Lions in light of the test season up ahead. The squad comprises 18 players. The management has tried to balance youth with experience while picking the squad. Some players are eyeing a return to the national team, while others are expecting to receive their debut.
Here are three players from India A who can be picked for the main team.
3. Abhimanyu Easwaran

The right-handed opening batter from the state of Bengal has been in the sights of the team management since last year. He is one of the highest run-scorers in the domestic circuit over the last 4 years, having amassed 2947 runs at an average of 62 in 32 matches. He is a very experienced customer in the first-class circuit, having made his debut in 2013. He has since scored more than 7600 runs in 101 first-class matches at an average of 48. He was even picked on the national side for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy but didn’t get his debut. With the departure of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, he may find his place in the revamped Indian batting order.
2. Shardul Thakur

The right-handed all-rounder may be called up for the national side after the India A tour due to the versatility he brings to the table. His ability to bowl with both old and new balls and make important contributions with the bat in the lower middle order can make him an asset for the team. To add to it, he also has experience of representing India in test matches. He has so far played 11 tests for India. He has scored 364 runs and scalped 34 wickets. He may be introduced as the fast bowling all-rounder in the team.
1. Yashasvi Jaiswal

The left-handed destructive opener is going to be one of the opening batters for India in the test series against England. Having proved his mettle in the last WTC cycle, where he may end as the second-highest run-getter with 1728 runs and 4 centuries, Jaiswal is sure to get a call-up, lest he face any unfortunate injury.
