The Men in Blue crushed Afghanistan in the second T20I of the series in Indore to seal the series. The next challenge for the home side will be to end the series on a positive note and prepare for the all-important Test series against England starting later this month.
With the series already in control, Team India might look to introduce a few changes in the starting lineup, and in this article, we will take a look at the 3 players who might get benched for the 3rd T20I against Afghanistan.
1. Jitesh Sharma
Jitesh Sharma, the wicketkeeper-batter, has started for India in the first couple of T20Is of the series. Jitesh played a quick 31-run cameo in the first T20I at Mohali but could not open the account in Indore as he was dismissed by Karim Janat for a duck. Team India has another wicketkeeper-batter option on the bench and the management can give him a chance to get some game time under his belt. Considering this, Jitesh Sharma may have to sit out in order to make way for Samson.
2. Mukesh Kumar
The 30-year-old, Mukesh Kumar, played for the Men in Blue in the first two matches of the T20I series and played a crucial part in comprehensive victories for the Indian team. Mukesh bowled four overs in the first T20I at Mohali and picked up a couple of wickets, however, he only bowled two overs in the second T20I. To try out more names in the 3rd T20I team India can bench Mukesh Kumar.
3. Ravi Bishnoi
The young leg-spinner from Rajasthan, Ravi Bishnoi, got the opportunity to feature in the starting lineup for the first couple of T20Is but he proved to be expensive with the ball. In the first T20I, he bowled three overs and conceded 35 runs without picking up any wickets. Whereas, in the second T20I in Indore he improved his performance to dismiss a couple of Afghan players. However, along with a few other names he can also find himself on the bench for the third T20I.
