3 concerns India needs to address ahead of second Test against Australia

India faces key challenges ahead of the second Test against Australia: India started playing the pink ball Test in 2019, and since then, the team has won several decisive games to demonstrate its supremacy. India and Australia played a Day-Night Test match at the Adelaide Oval in December 2020, one year later. The following events were regarded as some of the most troubling in Indian Test cricket history.

India had a boost for the Pink Ball Test after playing a practice match against the Prime Minister’s XI. India won the game with 6 wickets. However, recently India had success with the pink ball. They will, however, try to get rid of 36 all out this time from their back.

1. KL Rahul’s batting position

The middle order had to pick up the pieces because they were unable to establish any kind of foundation in either inning. This is a major problem for a team that will soon have to contend with a formidable Australian side. India would be under a lot of strain in the Border-Gavaskar series if their top order is unable to get off to a strong start. India must address the issue of early collapses like these, which leave the middle order with too much to bear. As the Indian captain is back in the team, concerns have risen over KL Rahul’s batting position as he can bat down the order.

2. Rohit Sharma’s form

Returning from parental leave, Rohit Sharma started the day acclimating to Canberra cricket norms once more. In the pink-ball warm-up match against the Australian Prime Minister’s XI, India skipper Rohit Sharma maintained his position at number five in the batting order. The ball took the outside edge and landed safely in the fielder’s grasp at first slip after he chased an outside delivery from Charlie Anderson in the 21st over of the innings.

3. Cleaning Australia lower order

During the first Test match in Perth Australia, bowlers stood up as they lost quick wickets in Day 1. Mitchell Starc played 112 balls and scored 26 runs. India had a tough time to get him out as he took the bowling attack with ease. Ahead of the Pink ball test, India will aim to get rid of the lower order as they all can bat and keep scoring runs.
