Wahab Riaz accused Pakistan cricket of nepotism

পাকিস্তান ক্রিকেটে স্বজনপ্রীতির অভিযোগ তুললেন ওয়াহাব রিয়াজ

A few days ago, Pakistan pacer Wahab Riaz made a strong appearance in the BPL. He became the highest wicket-taker by taking 13 wickets in 7 matches. On the other hand, this pacer got the good news of being appointed as the Sports Minister of Punjab while playing BPL. After returning home, this sports minister of Punjab has accused nepotism in Pakistan cricket. After that, there is an uproar in Pakistan cricket.

A few days ago, Pakistan Cricket Board replaced Ramiz Raza and made Najam Shetty the chairman. However, Wahab Riaz has now opened his mouth that he used to favor nepotism in Pakistan cricket when Ramiz Raja was in charge. Mohammad Wasim was the chief selector of the Pakistan team during the time of Ramiz Raja.He claimed that despite the good performance of some cricketers, the team was not given a chance. According to Wahab, there is no reason behind the exclusion of these cricketers.

In a recent interview, Wahab Riaz said, “Our team selection process is not correct. During the tenure of the laptop-centric chief selector (Mohammed Wasim), the process of team selection is always questionable. Players like Shoaib Malik, Imad Wasim, Safarraj Ahmed played well but were dropped from the team. They were dropped. There is no logic behind the reading. If you look at statistics, Shoaib and Imad did well in T20 World Cup 2021 but they were not considered for the team. Their performance was not evaluated by the selectors for unknown reasons.I still don’t know the reason for not keeping them in Australia’s 2022 T-20 World Cup. The selectors didn’t even explain what was wrong with them.”

Wahab also said, “The change of power is a normal process. I know, Rameez bhai was the ultimate authority in PCB at one time. But during that time, the chief selector was not in regular contact with us (players). Only if we obeyed his wishes, he was only for everyone. It is not known whether teams are selected in this way in other countries. Those who can stand firm for their position in Pakistan cricket are not contacted. That is why sometimes Pakistan cricket faces challenges. “

Complaining about nepotism, Wahab Riaz also said, “Cricket nepotism in our country is an open secret. If the performance is good, age should not be an excuse. Age is just a number, not always important. Rules should be equal for everyone. Misbah Bhai’s words. Consider, making age a number, he played cricket even after 40. According to me, a cricketer reaches his prime after 30. Look at India, you will find many examples. Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli are still performing in their 30s. Age therefore does not always consider everything.

It may be noted that Wahab played the last international match in Pakistan’s jersey in 2020. He was dropped from the team after doing well in two ODIs. After that, he is out of the team for two long years. But he is the highest wicket taker in T20 since 2015 (307). Recently, this pacer of Pakistan has also set a precedent in T20 cricket. He has touched the milestone of 400 wickets in T20. This Pakistani pacer wants to return to the team with the One Day World Cup in India. However, time will tell whether it will be possible.
