Still, Bangladesh relying on Mustafiz

Mustafizur Rahman has gradually become a symbol of the team’s hope since his debut in the jersey of Bangladesh in 2015. He has been troubling the batsmen with his bowling variations, but the left-arm pacer has not been doing very well in recent times. He wasn’t able to win the team rather the team fall in danger because of his poor bowling.

Fizz could not meet the expectations of the team in the last Asia Cup. Since then, the criticism around him is increasing. Has the fizz passed his best time behind? Even in an interview, Team Bangladesh director Khaled Mahmud Sujan said Mustafiz is no longer the team’s auto choice.

In the last 10 ODI matches, Mustafiz has taken a total of 9 wickets. He is more dull in T20 format. When did this pacer bag 4-5 wickets for the last time? The Bangladeshi pacer may have to think a lot to tell this answer! His last 4-wicket haul was on 19 October 2021, against Oman. That too was at the cost of 36 runs.

After that, Mustafiz could not take 3 wickets even once in the last 16 matches. However, even if we exclude the account of not getting wickets, this bowler, the head of the Bangladesh team, is not even able to bowl cheap in the T20. But the team is not giving up hope. Bangladesh is looking to rely on Mustafiz’s left-hand.

Bangladesh team selector Habibul Bashar Sumon also thinks that Mustafiz is still capable of giving the best. He said, ”Mustafiz is our experienced and senior player. But in recent times, as much as we want, maybe that is not happening. But I think he can still give his best. The best is yet to be given.”

Bashar also said, ”He (Mustafiz) is working with different deliveries in T20. He had stock delivery, slower and cutter. He does not depend only on these. Because he knows it doesn’t work that way when he goes outside the subcontinent. Working on some deliveries. I hope he will do well in the World Cup.”

This year’s T20 World Cup will begin from October 16 in Australia. Mustafiz’s fans expect that this cutting master will return in form there. If so, then Bangladesh will be benefited. Or maybe this star will be dropped from the country’s cricket due to continuous failure.
