Ending all speculations, Hathurusingha has taken charge of the Bangladesh national team for the second term. Having set foot in Bangladesh, he has already held his first press conference. There, the head coach of the Tigers opened up on the Shakib issue. In the press conference, he said that he never raised any question about Shakib’s dedication to Bangladesh cricket.

In the first term when Hathuru was the head coach of the Bangladesh national team, there was a rumor in the country’s cricket arena that he had raised questions about Shakib. According to BCB sources, Shakib took leave from the Test series during the South Africa series in 2017. About which Hathuru raised a question. However, he denied it after receiving the responsibility for the second term. In his first press conference, Hathurusingha said, “I have never said anything about this. And this is completely new news to me.”

Hathurusingha claims that when he was the head coach of the team for the first time, he did not have any problem with the seniors of the national team. And he is optimistic that it will not happen this time either. The head coach of Tigers also said, “I have spoken to everyone. I have no problem with anyone. All eyes are now on the team’s good performance, so that the result will be good. I like to take challenges. My challenge is only on the team’s good performance.”

Hathurusingha thinks that the role of those who are senior in the team is still the same as before. He said, “They have been with the team for a long time. They have been giving good service to the team for 10 to 15 years, I hope they will continue to do so. As long as they play, they will be in the team. I don’t think their role has diminished even a bit. Because they know about their role. They are world-class players, there is no question about their dedication.”

Hathurusingha has returned being more matured than the first time. However, there was a saying that Hathurusingha was a ‘strict’ headmaster. However, when asked whether it will be the same this time, he said with a smile at the press conference, “Maybe the age has increased a little compared to before.”

It should be noted that Hathurusingha served as the coach of the Bangladesh national team from 2014 to 2017. After that, he went on a tour to South Africa and did not return from there. He left the job. After that, Russell Domingo was appointed as the head coach of the Tigers. Domingo resigned last December. And then BCB handed over the responsibility of the team to Hathurusingha.
