Former coach Waqar Younis has ruined Shehzad's career

Conflicts between cricketers and board officials or management are often heard on the cricket field in Pakistan. Such an incident has come to the fore this time. Mohammad Shehzad came to Pakistan cricket as a very talented cricketer and almost solidified his place in the team as a great opener. However, the cricketer is no longer in the national team due to injury and off form.

Shehzad last played in the national team jersey in 2019. In 2016, a report on cricketers was submitted to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) by a coaching panel headed by then-head coach Waqar Younis.

There, they refused to take Shehzad in the team and advised Shehzad to regain his place by performing in domestic cricket. Since then, the opener has been in the procession to join the national team.

In a recent interview, Shehzad claimed former coach Walker was responsible for ruining his career. Although he did not see the report given by the Walker panel, he blames Walker for the words he heard from the PCB officials.

Shejzad said in the interview, “I have not seen it myself. But the officials of Pakistan Cricket Board told me that. Walker reported against me. In my opinion, it is better to have these face-to-face discussions. I am ready to take on any challenge, and only then will it be understood who is right and wrong.”

Shehzad added: “I should have said a lot more. Maybe I should have gone too far. But he didn’t do anything, and I kept my mouth shut. Because I want to keep my dignity, and I can’t go down like them. But for them, my cricketing life has been ruined, and I have never been given a chance to say my words.”
