England-South Africa third Test postponed following death of Queen Elizabeth II

The second day of the third Test between England and South Africa was postponed due to the death of Queen Elizabeth II. The matter was confirmed by the England Cricket Board (ECB) through Twitter.

Not only the England-South Africa match, the Rachel Hayhoe Flint Trophy scheduled matches have also been postponed by the England Cricket Board.

The ECB tweeted, “ Following the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Friday’s play between England and South Africa Men at The Oval, along with all scheduled matches in the (women’s domestic) Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy, will not take place.” 

The news of the Queen’s death was announced from Buckingham Palace on Thursday night. It said, “ The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon.”The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow.

It should be noted that in the first Test, South Africa beat England by an innings and 12 runs to advance in the series. England leveled the three-match series winning by an innings and 85 runs in the next second Test at Old Trafford.
