West Indies and Barbados Royals all-rounder Rahkeem Cornwall hammered a monstrous 101-metre six during a match in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2023. Cornwall slammed the humongous maximum during the match between Barbados Royals and St Lucia Kings at the Kensington Oval in Barbados on Sunday, September 2.

During the chase, Cornwall opened the batting order for Barbados along with explosive hitter Kyle Mayers. It was in the fifth ball of the third over that Cornwall recorded one of the biggest maximums in the competition.

Up against Matthew Forde, the seamer produced a delivery around the Cornwall’s pads upon which the latter gobbled it up to dispatch the ball over backward square which sailed all the over onto the roof of the stadium. CPL took to their social media handle to share the clip of the batter’s monstrous hit.

It is worth mentioning that in the very same over, Cornwall slammed two maximums and a boundary as Forde concluded his over by leaking 20 runs. However, in the following over, Cornwall’s innings came to a screeching halt as the batter was sent packing by Alzarri Joseph for 18 off 14 balls.

Notably, St Lucia Kings posted a competitive first innings score of 195 runs in their stipulated 20 overs, courtesy of keeper-batter Johnson Charles’ 52-ball 78 which featured five sixes and six fours. Barbados had an uphill task in the run-chase and failed to fight hard as the batting order fell cheaply for a paltry 105 runs in 17.3 overs.

Alzarri Joseph returned with a three-wicket haul, whereas Peter Hatzoglou and Roshon Primus got two scalps apiece. Furthermore, Khary Pierre, Forde, and Sikandar Raza also got one wicket each to dent the chase for the rival side as St Lucia Kings brushed aside Barbados by 90 runs.

Barbados Royals will be up against St Kitts and Nevis Patriots on Monday, September 4, at the Kensington Oval in Barbados. On the other hand, St Lucia Kings also play the same side on Saturday, September 9.
