MS vs QG (28th Match) – Highlights
In what turned out to be a pulsating contest at the Pindi Cricket Stadium, QG edged out MS by two wickets in the final over of the 28th match of the Pakistan Super League 2025. Chasing a challenging target of 186, Quetta held their nerves in a rollercoaster of a game, snatching victory off the last ball, thanks to a scintillating unbeaten knock from Hasan Nawaz.
Put into bat first, MS got off to a fiery start despite losing skipper Mohammad Rizwan early. Yasir Khan looked in sublime touch, smashing 45 off just 25 balls with six fours and two sixes. He formed useful partnerships with Jahanzaib Sultan and Tayyab Tahir, both of whom chipped in with valuable cameos. Tayyab’s aggressive 36 off 24 balls ensured that the scoreboard kept ticking. The middle order then contributed steadily, with Shahid Aziz’s explosive 29 off 14 in the death overs providing the late burst. Multan eventually finished on a competitive 185 for 7.
Quetta’s bowling had its moments, especially through Usman Tariq, who picked up three key wickets for 32 runs. Mohammad Wasim and Faheem Ashraf bowled economically in the later stages to limit Multan from breaching the 200-mark.
In reply, the Gladiators needed a solid start, and although Captain Saud Shakeel struggled to accelerate, his partner Khawaja Nafay ensured a flying start. Nafay dazzled with a blistering 51 off just 26 balls, peppering the boundary line with five fours and four sixes before falling in the 8th over. Hasan Nawaz then took center stage, anchoring the innings with maturity and aggression. He kept his calm while wickets kept tumbling at the other end, including that of Dinesh Chandimal and Faheem Ashraf, both of whom played short yet impactful knocks.
It all came down to the last ball — QG needed 2 runs, and the pressure was on Hasan Nawaz to deliver. The young right-hander held his nerve and punched the final delivery for a couple, sealing a dramatic victory. His unbeaten 67 off 38 deliveries, laced with two boundaries and six towering sixes, earned him the Player of the Match award and applause from all quarters.
Multan found their hero in Shahid Aziz, who delivered a game-changing spell of 3 wickets for just 29 runs. But despite his efforts, the rest of the bowling unit couldn’t contain Hasan Nawaz in the crucial overs.
This win solidifies Quetta Gladiators’ position at the top of the PSL points table, while Multan Sultans, placed sixth, face a tough road ahead in their quest for qualification.
