QG vs IU (26th Match) – Highlights
The 26th match of the 2025 Pakistan Super League in Rawalpindi was a madbanking run-a-thon where Quetta Gladiators completely obliterated Islamabad United by 109 runs, surely a total that would crush any effort make by night Islamabad! What a spectacle under the lights—Rossouw and Nawaz both slammed centuries like men possessed. Together, they carved 263/3 in 20 overs, owning nearly half the scoreboard. It wasn’t cricket; it was a cosmic blast of pure, unforgettable power-hitting!
After winning the toss and deciding to bat first, Quetta Gladiators made a steady start reaching 26 for 1 after 5 overs, but Captain Saud Shakeel made 23 runs off 18 balls, while Finn Allen was dismissed for just 5 runs, but the innings came to life once Rilee Rossouw and Hasan Nawaz got in together. Rossouw scored a whirlwind 104 runs off just 46 balls, including 14 fours and 6 sixes, to display his class and dominate the Bowling attack. Rossouw departed in the 16th over, but the damage was already done.
Hasan Nawaz just kept going on and finished not out at 100 off only 45 balls. Four fours and a staggering 9 sixes demonstrated his aggression and style. Mark Chapman chipped in with a brisk 13 off 8 balls to take the Gladiators past 260 runs. The United bowlers struggled to find a remedy with all the bowlers going for over 10 runs an over. Imad Wasim and Naseem Shah managed a wicket each but both went for plenty.
Chasing a mammoth 264, Islamabad United started disintegrating under pressure immediately. Mohammad Amir produced an inspired spell and got both openers – Kyle Mayers and Sahibzada Farhan – in his first over, and had them under a strong grip of pressure just like the other bowlers. Amir came out with a very impressive figure of 3 for 6 in 2 overs. The Islamabad top order collapsed quickly, and they never really recovered from the bounce of early pressure.
The lone resistance came in the form of Imad Wasim, who played an enterprising 56 off 41 balls with the help of five fours and two sixes. Ben Dwarshuis contributed a punchy 31 off 24 balls but nothing else arrived from the order. Abrar Ahmed and Mohammad Wasim picked up 2 wickets each while Khurram Shahzad, Faheem Ashraf and Saud Shakeel captured one wicket apiece. Islamabad United were bowled out for 154 in 19.3 overs, so that Quetta won by 109 runs.
Rilee Rossouw was rightly named Player of the Match for his explosive century that set the foundation for Quetta’s dominant performance. This win boosts Quetta Gladiators’ confidence and their chances in the PSL standings as they gear up for the playoff stages.
