RCB vs CSK (8th Match) – Highlights
In a thrilling encounter at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) triumphed over Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by just 2 runs in an Indian Premier League 2025 match. The match was everything a RCB-CSK match should be, as runs flowed from both ends and the tension mounted through the last over to the delight of the fans.
RCB won the toss, lit the fuse, and let Bethell and Kohli launch a power-packed opening act that could’ve been spotted from space. Bethell batted aggressively from the first ball and scored 55 from 33 balls, with eight fours and two sixes. Kohli looked class above the rest; down the pitch, using the whole field, and every shot, an amazing innings of 62 from 33 balls, with five fours and five sixes. They were well on target to score without a doubt, a massive score!
After the departures of Devdutt Padikkal (17), Rajat Patidar (11), and Jitesh Sharma (7), the middle order collapse was troubling but only a slight concern, until Romario Shepherd turned it entirely upside down of course. The West Indian all-rounder was just 10 runs after 6 overs and finished unbeaten on 53 runs off 14 balls in the death overs, where he brought the crowd to their feet with 4 fours and 6 monstrous sixes, taking RCB to a steep 213 for 5 in 20 overs.
Matheesha Pathirana was the standout bowler for CSK, picking up 3 wickets for 36 runs. Noor Ahmad also kept things tight with figures of 1 for 26, but others, including Khaleel Ahmed who conceded 65 runs in just three overs, struggled against the relentless RCB batting.
Ayush Mhatre for CSK set off like a rocket, displaying the aggressive strategy against the RCB bowlers right from the outset. The opener made a scintillating 94 runs off just 48 balls which showcased tremendous power and maturity beyond his years. Although Shaik Rasheed (14) and Sam Curran (5) fell cheaply as well, Ravindra Jadeja kept CSK in the game with a fine unbeaten 77 runs off 45 balls, including eight fours and two sixes and nearly got them across the line.
However, Lungi Ngidi’s clinical spell turned the match in RCB’s favor. The South African pacer struck thrice, removing Mhatre, Curran, and Dewald Brevis in quick succession to break CSK’s momentum. Yash Dayal dismissed MS Dhoni in the penultimate over, further increasing the pressure on CSK. Despite Shivam Dube’s late cameo of 8 off 3 balls, the target proved just out of reach as CSK managed 211 for 5 in their 20 overs.
