It was a high-scoring thriller where RCB Women emerged victorious by 11 runs, successfully defending a total of 199 against a formidable Mumbai Indians lineup.

RCB Women, opting to bat first, got off to a flying start with Sabbhineni Meghana playing a quickfire knock of 26 off just 13 balls. Captain Smriti Mandhana led from the front with a commanding 53 off 37 deliveries, displaying her usual elegance and aggression. The experienced Ellyse Perry anchored the innings with a well-paced 49 not out, ensuring the middle overs were capitalized upon. 

Richa Ghosh provided an attacking cameo of 36 off 22, while Georgia Wareham finished the innings in style, smashing 31 off just 10 balls at an astonishing strike rate of 310. Their combined efforts took RCB Women to a commanding total of 199/3 in 20 overs.

For MI Women, the bowling attack struggled to contain the opposition batters. Hayley Matthews managed to pick up two crucial wickets, dismissing Meghana and Richa Ghosh, while Amelia Kerr got rid of the dangerous Mandhana. However, Kerr proved expensive, conceding 47 runs in her three-over spell. Shabnim Ismail, Nat Sciver-Brunt, and Amanjot Kaur bowled with discipline but failed to secure any breakthroughs.

Chasing 200, MI Women needed a strong start, but they found themselves in early trouble when Hayley Matthews and Amelia Kerr fell within the powerplay. The innings was revived by the outstanding performance of Nat Sciver-Brunt, who played an exceptional knock of 69 off just 35 balls. She took charge of the chase, finding gaps effortlessly and clearing the ropes with ease. However, her dismissal in the 15th over, brilliantly caught and bowled by Ellyse Perry, turned the game in RCB’s favor.

Harmanpreet Kaur contributed 20 off 18 before falling to Kim Garth, and despite late heroics from Sajeevan Sajana, who scored a blistering 23 off 12 balls, MI Women fell short by 11 runs. Sneh Rana proved to be the game-changer for RCB, delivering an outstanding spell of 3 for 26 in her four overs, dismissing key batters at crucial junctures. Perry and Garth also played crucial roles, picking up two wickets each, while Georgia Wareham chipped in with one.

With this victory, RCB Women strengthened their position in the league standings. Sneh Rana was named the Player of the Match for her match-winning spell, which proved decisive in the close encounter.
