MI Women, in response, were aggressive from the start. Hayley Matthews, in sublime form, took the attack to the UPW bowlers. She played exquisite strokes all around the park, finding the boundary with ease. Her 68 off 46 balls included eight fours and two sixes, laying the perfect platform for MI Women’s chase. 

Amelia Kerr departed early, falling to Chinelle Henry, but Nat Sciver-Brunt carried forward the momentum with a blistering 37 off 23. She stitched a vital 92-run partnership with Matthews, ensuring MI stayed ahead in the chase.

The game saw a brief twist when Grace Harris picked up two crucial wickets, dismissing Sciver-Brunt and MI skipper Harmanpreet Kaur in quick succession. However, the target was within reach, and Amanjot Kaur, alongside Yastika Bhatia, guided MI Women home comfortably with nine balls to spare. Amanjot played a steady hand, finishing unbeaten on 12, while Bhatia’s quick 10 off six balls sealed the win.

For UP Warriorz Women, the bowling lacked penetration, with only Grace Harris and Chinelle Henry providing breakthroughs. Kranti Goud also managed to get rid of the dangerous Matthews, but the lack of wickets in the middle overs proved costly. MI Women’s dominance with the bat, coupled with their disciplined bowling effort earlier in the game, ensured a comprehensive victory.

With this win, Mumbai Indians Women continued their strong run in the WPL 2025, reinforcing their credentials as title contenders. Hayley Matthews’ match-winning innings and Amelia Kerr’s remarkable spell were the key highlights of the match. UP Warriorz Women, despite flashes of brilliance from Georgia Voll and Deepti Sharma, will have to rethink their middle-order approach in the coming games.
