Batting first, RCB Women struggled to gain momentum despite Ellyse Perry’s valiant efforts. Danni Wyatt-Hodge looked promising but couldn’t convert her start into a big score, dismissed for 21 by Marizanne Kapp. 

Perry, however, held the innings together with a well-compiled 60 off 47 balls, finding some support from Raghvi Bist, who contributed 33 off 32 balls. Despite their efforts, RCB managed only 147 for 5 in their 20 overs, with Kanika Ahuja and Richa Ghosh falling cheaply.

The DC bowlers were disciplined, with Kapp and Pandey picking up crucial wickets. Shree Charani also made an impact with her spell, claiming two wickets while keeping the scoring rate in check. Jess Jonassen proved expensive, conceding 33 runs in her three overs, but overall, Delhi’s bowling attack ensured RCB Women did not get an explosive finish.

Chasing 148, Delhi Capitals Women lost their captain, Meg Lanning, early for just two runs off 12 balls. However, what followed was sheer dominance from Shafali Verma and Jess Jonassen. Shafali unleashed her attacking prowess, smashing eight fours and four sixes in her explosive 80* off 43 balls. She was well supported by Jonassen, who played an equally aggressive knock of 61* off 38 balls, ensuring there were no hiccups in the chase.

RCB’s bowlers had no answers to Shafali’s aggression. Renuka Singh managed to dismiss Lanning early, but that was the only moment of success for Bengaluru. Perry, Wareham, and Sneh Rana struggled to contain the runs as Delhi raced towards the target with a stunning run rate of 9.74. The power-hitting from Shafali and Jonassen made it look effortless, finishing the chase in just 15.3 overs.

With this comprehensive win, Delhi Capitals Women further solidified their position in the WPL standings. Shafali Verma’s breathtaking knock earned her the Player of the Match award, as she once again proved why she is one of the most feared batters in women’s cricket. For RCB, the loss exposed their batting frailties, with only Perry standing tall. Their bowlers also failed to make an impact against Delhi’s aggressive approach.
