RCB vs PBKS (Final Match) – Highlights

The Indian Premier League final between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) at Ahmedabad on June 3, 2025, A thrilling encounter saw fans on tenterhooks until the final ball, as RCB defended a challenging 190-run target, securing a tight 6-run win.The match showcased some brilliant batting displays, crucial bowling spells, and intense moments that defined this nail-biting finish.

RCB showed their intent in their batting innings. Salt’s explosive start set the tone; Kohli’s calm stewardship kept the rhythm flowing like a well-oiled machine. Kohli steadied the innings as he was calm at the top with three fours in his innings despite the loss of a couple of early wickets. Mayank Agarwal was also somewhat exuberant, although he scored 24, he also showed good intent and at a decent rate. Captain Rajat Patidar was also active, too, at a good pace, scoring 26 off 12 balls with a pair of sixes.

The middle order saw some entertaining batting from Liam Livingstone and Jitesh Sharma. Livingstone’s 25 off 15 balls, filled with two sixes, and Sharma’s blistering 24 off 10 deliveries significantly boosted the team’s total. Romario Shepherd’s 17 runs towards the end kept the scoreboard ticking. Despite losing wickets regularly, RCB kept pushing the run rate, finishing on a competitive 190 for 9 in their 20 overs.

Punjab Kings started their chase with positive intent, powered by some fine strokes from their top order. Priyansh Arya provided a good start with 24 runs, and Prabhsimran Singh followed up with a steady 26. Josh Inglis was the standout for PBKS, smashing a quick 39 from 23 balls that included one boundary and four sixes, keeping hopes alive. However, the fall of Shreyas Iyer early in the innings disrupted the chase.

The lower middle order, particularly Shashank Singh, showed remarkable resilience with a brilliant 61 off just 30 balls, including 38 runs in boundaries and six sixes, which made the chase very interesting. Despite his aggressive approach, the Punjab Kings were unable to keep up with the required run rate in the final overs. While Marcus Stoinis and Nehal Wadhera contributed, their dismissals at critical junctures intensified the team’s struggle.

Arshdeep Singh and Kyle Jamieson took no prisoners, frontlining RCB’s bowling with ruthless precision. Arshdeep was particularly impressive, picking up 3 wickets and maintaining a tight economy rate of 10.00 despite the onslaught. Jamieson matched his effort with 3 wickets for 48 runs. The other bowlers, including Azmatullah Omarzai and Vijaykumar Vyshak, chipped in with vital wickets, ensuring the Punjab batsmen never got comfortable.

On the PBKS side, Bhuvneshwar Kumar was the pick of the bowlers, taking 2 wickets and keeping the scoring in check with an economy of 9.50. Despite Krunal Pandya’s standout performance of 2 wickets for just 17 runs, the overall bowling attack struggled to keep RCB’s powerful batting lineup in check.

In the end, RCB held their nerve to clinch the IPL trophy in a final that lived up to its billing. The competitive total of 190 runs proved just enough as PBKS fell short by 6 runs in a hard-fought contest. Both teams exhibited moments of brilliance, but RCB’s balance between aggressive batting and timely wickets in the bowling department gave them the edge.
