Soumya Sarkar, Najmul Hossain Shanto, and Mushfiqur Rahim all departed for ducks, while Mehidy Hasan Miraz could only manage a scratchy 5 off 10 balls. Opener Tanzid Hasan showed some promise with a quick 25 off 25 balls but fell to Axar Patel, leaving Bangladesh in deep trouble at 35 for 5 inside nine overs.

However, Towhid Hridoy played a valiant knock under immense pressure, holding the innings together with a brilliant century. His 100 off 118 balls, laced with six fours and two sixes, was a testament to his resilience. He found an able partner in Jaker Ali, who contributed a crucial 68 off 114 deliveries. The duo steadied the ship with a vital 154-run partnership for the sixth wicket, helping Bangladesh recover from an early collapse. 

Rishad Hossain chipped in with a brisk 18 off 12 balls to push the total to 228 before the team was bowled out in the final over. Shami was the standout bowler for India, claiming 5 for 53 in his 10 overs, while Harshit Rana impressed with 3 for 31 in his debut Champions Trophy match.

Chasing 229 for victory, India got off to a solid start with Captain Rohit Sharma setting the tone. He smashed 41 off 36 balls, hitting seven boundaries, before falling to Taskin Ahmed. Shubman Gill anchored the chase with a composed unbeaten century, scoring 101 off 129 balls. His knock, which included nine fours and two sixes, was a perfect blend of patience and aggression. 

Virat Kohli contributed 22 off 38 balls but perished to Rishad Hossain, while Shreyas Iyer (15) and Axar Patel (8) failed to convert their starts. However, KL Rahul played a responsible innings, remaining unbeaten on 41 off 47 balls, ensuring there were no late hiccups.

Bangladesh’s bowlers, despite the early breakthrough, struggled to apply sustained pressure. Rishad Hossain was the pick of the bowlers, taking 2 for 38 in his 10 overs, while Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman managed one wicket each. In the end, IND comfortably reached the target in 46.3 overs, securing a crucial win in their campaign. This victory not only gave them two points but also boosted their net run rate, strengthening their position in Group A.
