Duckett, on the other hand, took charge of the innings, scoring an impressive 65 off 56 balls, laced with 10 boundaries. 

Joe Root anchored the middle order with a well-constructed 69 off 72 deliveries, providing stability after Duckett’s dismissal. However, England lost momentum in the middle overs as Harry Brook struggled to accelerate, scoring 31 off 52 balls before being caught off Harshit Rana’s bowling.

Captain Jos Buttler attempted to shift gears but perished for 34 off 35, caught by Shubman Gill off Hardik Pandya. Liam Livingstone played a crucial cameo towards the end, smashing 41 off just 32 balls, which included two sixes, ensuring England reached a competitive total. However, a flurry of wickets in the final overs prevented England from crossing the 320-run mark. 

Ravindra Jadeja was India’s standout bowler, finishing with figures of 3/35 in his 10 overs, including key wickets of Duckett, Root, and Jamie Overton. Varun Chakravarthy, Harshit Rana, Pandya, and Mohammed Shami chipped in with a wicket each, while India’s sharp fielding resulted in three run-outs, including the dismissals of Adil Rashid and Mark Wood. England was bowled out for 304 in 49.5 overs, setting India a target of 305.

IND chase was spearheaded by their skipper Rohit Sharma, who played a magnificent knock of 119 off 90 balls, dominating the English bowlers with 12 fours and 7 sixes. He provided India with a flying start, forging a 136-run opening partnership with Shubman Gill, who contributed a fluent 60 off 52 balls. Gill was dismissed by Jamie Overton, but Rohit continued his onslaught, reaching his century in quick time. Virat Kohli’s short stay at the crease ended when he was caught behind off Adil Rashid for just 5, but Shreyas Iyer steadied the innings with a composed 44 off 47.

After Rohit’s departure at 220/3, Axar Patel played a crucial finishing role, anchoring the chase with an unbeaten 41 off 43 balls. Despite losing KL Rahul (10) and Hardik Pandya (10) in quick succession, India remained in control. 

Jadeja’s quickfire 11 off 7 balls sealed the deal, ensuring India crossed the target in 44.3 overs with six wickets down. Overton was the pick of England’s bowlers, taking 2/27, while Gus Atkinson, Adil Rashid, and Livingstone grabbed a wicket each, but England’s bowling attack lacked the penetration to defend the total.
