DC vs RCB (46th Match) – Highlights

In the 46th match of IPL 2025, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) defeated Delhi Capitals (DC) by six wickets at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi. It was a dominant performance from RCB, as they chased down a target of 163 with nine balls to spare, riding on a stellar all-round performance from Krunal Pandya, who was rightly awarded Player of the Match.

DC started at a pace, getting to 28 runs courtesy of Abishek Porel before his wicket was taken in the fourth over. One by one, the wickets fell with Faf du Plessis struggling to score only 22 from 26 balls without being able to rotate the strike. Karun Nair was in and out, and KL Rahul032292 Edited 38 minutes ago, tried to hang in there for a while longer adding 41 runs from 39 balls, but ultimately that was not enough to register a big score.

Towards the end, Tristan Stubbs gave a little momentum, adding a quick-fire 34 runs from 18 balls, and by the end it was 162 for 8 wickets in 20 overs. Bhuvneshwar Kumar was the pick of the bowlers with 3 wickets, Josh Hazlewood helping with 2 wickets, and even Krunal Pandya taking the crucial wicket of Faf du Plessis.

The Royal Challengers Bangalore began awkwardly in their chase, as both Jacob Bethell and Devdutt Padikkal went quickly, and finally Rajat Patidar fell after 4 overs, RCB were 26 for 3 in four overs. Axar Patel bowled brilliantly, taking 2 for 19 in 4 overs, putting Delhi in the game. I was impressed with the experienced stance of Virat Kohli, paired with the calmness and stability of Krunal Pandya, which really steadied the innings. Kohli played an almost mechanical innings of 51 not out off 47 balls; his required run rate crept slightly, but he saw it through.

On the other hand, Krunal Pandya came in after the powerplay; he mixed caution and aggression to hit five fours and four sixes in an explosive unbeaten 73 off 47 balls, which methodically attacked the Delhi bowlers and swung the match RCB’s way. When Kohli was struck out towards the end of the run chase, Tim David stepped in and bludgeoned RCB’s last 19 runs off 5 balls to finish it off beautifully.

RCB’s run chase highlighted the importance of partnerships and the ability to absorb pressure in T20 cricket. Delhi’s bowlers, especially Mukesh Kumar who conceded 51 runs in 3.3 overs, struggled to maintain pressure in the death overs, which eventually proved costly.

With this win, RCB strengthened their position in the points table and showcased the depth and resilience in their squad. Krunal Pandya’s outstanding all-round show, scoring 73 not out and picking up a crucial wicket, made him an obvious choice for the Player of the Match award.
