MI vs LSG (45th Match) – Highlights
MI Grabs the Game, Puts It in Their Pocket, and Walks Off with a 54-Run Win! The Wankhede crowd got fireworks, fast bowling, and a reminder that Mumbai doesn’t do half-measures.
After batting first, the MI totaled a large 215 for 7 in the full 20 overs. Ryan Rickelton, as always, increased the run-rate in the innings with an excellent 58 off 32 balls (6 fours and 4 sixes). Rohit Sharma was starting to get going but did not last long, only posting a quick 12 off 5 balls. Will Jacks, Player of the Match, provided a nice-looking contribution of 29 off 21 balls midway through the innings, and this maintained a reasonable run rate for the Mumbai innings.
Suryakumar’s 28-Ball Assault Leaves Bowlers Clueless. Late innings fireworks from Naman Dhir, with an unbeaten 25 off 11 balls, and Corbin Bosch who smashed 20 runs off just 10 balls made sure MI went past the 200-run mark. Although LSG’s bowlers bowled reasonably well, with Mayank Yadav and Avesh Khan both taking two wickets, they had no control over MI’s batting performance on a Wankhede batting paradise.
Lucknow Super Giants were always going to find it difficult chasing the daunting target of 216. Trent Boult got Mumbai off to a fast start by taking the wicket of Mitchell Marsh after he made a promising 34 off 24 balls. Aiden Markram’s early wicket dented LSG’s efforts further. Nicholas Pooran looked threatening during his innings of 27 off 15, and he threatened with some big shots. However, Will Jacks was able to once again make his mark, removing both Pooran and Rishabh Pant, who can be dangerous, in the space of three balls.
Ayush Badoni tried to revive LSG’s innings with a brisk 35 off 22 balls, but consistent wickets at regular intervals meant Lucknow could never build a steady partnership. Jasprit Bumrah was at his lethal best, claiming 4 wickets for just 22 runs in his 4 overs, dismantling LSG’s lower middle order with pinpoint yorkers and smart variations. Boult also impressed with figures of 3 for 20, while Will Jacks chipped in with 2 for 18 from his two overs, showcasing his all-round skills.
Lucknow Super Giants were eventually bowled out for 161, well short of the target, giving Mumbai Indians a much-needed and morale-boosting win. The all-round brilliance of Will Jacks, complemented by stunning performances from Suryakumar Yadav, Ryan Rickelton, and Jasprit Bumrah, ensured Mumbai took home two crucial points as the tournament enters its decisive phase.
