SRH vs MI (41st Match) – Highlights
Mumbai Indians beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by 7 wickets in IPL 2025 Match 41, SRH vs MI. Rohit Sharma scored 70, and Trent Boult took 4 wickets to dominate the overall cricket match at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad. Sunrisers struggled their way to a modest 144 without loss, setting the stage for a Mumbai masterclass. Trent Boult maintained a controlled rhythm with the ball preventing early runaways eventually before Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav simply made the chase a formality—take the money and run home with 26 balls to spare.
SRH batted first, and they didn’t get off to a good start. Trent Boult, who was later named Player of the Match, struck early blows for SRH in dismissing Travis Head (for a duck) and Abhishek Sharma (for 8) in the first 5 overs. Ishan Kishan, and then the following batsman Nitish Kumar Reddy, both contributed nothing to the team’s total, going from 0 for 1 to eventually 13 for 4 in the powerplay. Heinrich Klaasen (71 runs off 44, 9 fours, 2 sixes) waged a one-man battle against SRH, with some support from Abhinav Manohar (43 runs off 37 balls). Boult returned to claim 2 more wickets for bowling figures of 4 for 26.
Even with Klaasen’s heroics, the rest of the SRH batting order collapsed under pressure, and they could only finish with 143 for 8 in 20 overs. Deepak Chahar was frugal and effective at the same time with figures of 2 for 12 in his 4 overs. Mitchell Santner was also not giving anything away, returning good overall figures of 4-0-19-0. Hardik Pandya also chipped in with a wicket, but he was a little expensive for my liking.
Mumbai Indians had the start they needed for their chase, even when Ryan Rickelton was removed for 11 early. Rohit Sharma showed again his vintage style, hitting 70 off just 46 balls with 8 fours and 3 sixes. Will Jacks added a nice 22, but it was Suryakumar Yadav who was the real standout in the back half of the innings. He blazed away to 40* off just 19 balls, at an incredible strike rate of 210.52 to ensure MI rushed through with only 15.4 overs batting.
For Sunrisers, Zeeshan Ansari, Eshan Malinga, and Jaydev Unadkat picked up a wicket each, but the bowlers failed to apply consistent pressure on a strong MI batting lineup.
The win boosts Mumbai Indians’ playoff hopes, reaffirming their position as title contenders. Meanwhile, Sunrisers Hyderabad will be left to reflect on a lackluster batting performance that cost them the match despite Klaasen’s brilliance.
