LSG vs CSK (30th Match) – Highlights
The cricket highlights of the LSG vs CSK, 30th match of the 2025 Indian Premier League between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow turned out to be an enthralling encounter, with CSK securing a hard-fought victory by 5 wickets with just 3 balls to spare. Chasing a target of 167, CSK achieved the target in 19.3 overs, proving their mettle in a tense finish.
After winning the toss, LSG opted to bat first but faced early setbacks. Aiden Markram fell in the very first over, caught by Tripathi off Ahmed’s bowling for just 6 runs. Mitchell Marsh looked promising but couldn’t build on his start, departing for 30 off 25 balls after being smartly stumped by Dhoni off Jadeja. With the scoreboard reading 23/2, the pressure was on Nicholas Pooran to anchor the innings.
He could only manage 8 runs before getting out leg before wicket off Kamboj. Then, Rishabh Pant played a captain’s innings under pressure. He steadied the innings with a composed but aggressive knock of 63 off 49 balls, taking LSG to a more respectable and competitive total.
Ayush Badoni was a good support to Rishabh Pant when he chipped in 22 runs off 17 balls before falling to Jadeja. Abdul Samad was a brisk 20 off just 11 balls, hitting two massive sixes before his hopes were dashed when Dhoni ran him out after some sharp work with the gloves. Shardul Thakur, the last-minute addition, could only manage 6 runs as LSG finished their 20 overs at 166/7.
CSK’s bowlers kept their discipline and control over the course of the innings. Jadeja had the superior spell of 2-24; Kamboj, Pathirana, and Ahmed all bowled well and took a wicket each to restrict LSG to a modest total.
CSK appeared to be comfortably chasing 167 but were under some pressure as LSG’s bowlers came at them. Shaik Rasheed, who had been strong in the tournament, was out for 27 at the hands of Avesh Khan. Rachin Ravindra was CSK’s top run scorer with 37 off just 22 balls, was dismissed by Aiden Markram; CSK were 74/2 after the 8th over.
Rahul Tripathi could not contribute much, being out 9 to Ravi Bishnoi. The middle-order attempted to stabilize the chase but witnessed Ravindra Jadeja fall cheaply for 7 also, to the bowler Bishnoi. With LSG seemingly taking decisive wickets, the game was still in the balance at 96/4, but Shivam Dube played a steady knock of 43 off 37 deliveries to level the chase.
The game changed dramatically with the arrival of MS Dhoni, with more than enough balls remaining in the contest for CSK to win. Dhoni then electrified the crowd with a knocking of 26 from just 11 balls. In the death overs, he produced strong blows to cement CSK’s progress across the line in a clinical manner. In what ended with a thrilling 5-wicket victory with 3 balls to spare, MS Dhoni’s cameo of individual brilliance earned him the Player of the Match.
