Zimbabwe to host UAE for six white-ball games in September-October

UAE Women will tour Zimbabwe for a white-ball series comprising of four WODIs and a couple of WT20Is in September-October. The series will commence on September 26 after a practice match between UAE and Zimbabwe ‘A’ side at the Bulawayo Athletic Club on September 24. All the other matches are set to be played at the Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo.

The series is set to be Zimbabwe’s first assignment since winning the Women’s T20 World Cup Africa Qualifierin Namibia earlier in September. The vital triumph in the Africa Qualifier earned them a berth in the Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifier 2026, which is slated to be held in Nepal early next year. All 10 teams to be taking part in the Global Qualifier have been decided through regional qualifiers.

Zimbabwe women head coach Walter Chawaguta labelled the upcoming UAE series as a “very important” in the context of next year’s Global Qualifier from which only four teams will progress to the mega event to be played later in 2026.

“The UAE series is very important to us and it fits perfectly in our plans as we prepare for the Global Qualifier early next year. It gives us the momentum that we need as a team and, at the same time, it also gives us an opportunity to look at some of the players who have been out due to injury and are now making a comeback,” Chawaguta was quoted as saying by ICC.
