India batter Abhishek Sharma received a heartfelt message of support from Suryakumar Yadav after enduring a forgettable outing in the recently concluded three-match T20I series against Zimbabwe.
It was a series to forget for the No. 2-ranked T20I batter in the world, who struggled for runs throughout the tour. The left-handed opener managed just 11 runs across the three matches, with scores of 4, 5, and 2, drawing criticism for his lack of form.
Following India’s victory in the third T20I, Abhishek took to Instagram to express his disappointment over his performances while thanking fans for their continued support. The 24-year-old also vowed to return stronger.
“It hurts when you can’t give back what so many people believe you’re capable of. But this game always rewards those who keep showing up. Happy that the team got the win. Will be back stronger 🇮🇳,” wrote Abhishek.

Suryakumar Yadav’s message wins hearts
Among those who came out in support of India’s enigmatic opener was India’s former T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav, who reminded the youngster of his contributions over the past two years and encouraged him to stay true to his fearless approach.
“You have given so many reasons to smile for 2 years in a row boyyyy. Given glory to INDIA when it mattered the most. Matter of time. Be yourself. #fearless,” wrote Suryakumar Yadav.

While India completed a dominant 3-0 series sweep, the spotlight firmly belonged to teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. The 15-year-old starred with scores of 50 off 18 balls, 20 off nine deliveries, and 81 off 49 in the three matches, earning both the Player of the Match and Player of the Series awards. In doing so, he became the youngest player to win the Player of the Series award in men’s international cricket.
