WPL 2024 Match 17 Highlights: Delhi Capitals Women vs Royal Challengers Bangalore Women

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB-W) lost a thrilling game in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024 against Delhi Capitals Women (DC-W) by one run in Match 17 at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi on Sunday, March 10. After opting to bat first, Delhi posted a massive score of 181/5 riding on brilliant knocks from Jemimah Rodrigues (58 off 36) and Alica Capsey (48 off 32).

In reply, RCB came agonizingly close to chasing it down courtesy of valiant knocks from Ellyse Perry (49 off 32) and Richa Ghosh. However, they fell two runs short of the target and finished on 180/7 in 20 overs. The Smriti Mandhana-led side is still alive in the knockouts race and needs to win their last fixture to qualify for the next round.

1. Jemimah Rodrigues registers second half-century in three games

The 23-year-old continued her rich form as he registered the second half-century of WPL career. Rodrigues played a magnificent knock of 58 (36) with the help of eight fours and a six as she got involved in a massive 97-run stand off 62 balls and guided her team to a massive score of 181/5.

2. Shreyanka Patil stars with the ball for RCB

The off-spinner was the pick of the bowlers for her side as she registered figures of 4/26 in four overs. Patil first got the big scalp of Meg Lanning (29 off 26) trapping her in front of the stumps. She further dismissed well-set Jemimah Rodrigues (58 off 36) and Alice Capsey (48 off 32) in her last two overs to stop the run flow. Patil also got rid of Jess Jonassen (1 off 2) in the final over and conceded just nine runs in her last two overs picking three wickets.

3. A heartbreak for Richa Ghosh and RCB

After Ellyse Perry (49 off 32) and Sophie Molineux (33 off 30) helped RCB make a comeback in the game with their 80-run stand. Richa Ghosh took the game ahead as she registered her second half-century of the season scoring 51 off 29 balls. With 17 runs needed off the last over, Ghosh brought RCB on the brink of a win with a couple of sixes as they just needed two off the last ball. However, she failed to clear the 30-yard circle on the last ball and got run out which resulted in a crushing one-run defeat for RCB.
