After losing two matches on the trot in the Women’s Premier League 2024, Royal Challengers Bangalore Women (RCB-W) came out all guns blazing in their fifth fixture against UP Warriorz on Monday, March 4 at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. The hosts put on a massive total of 198/3 in their allotted 20 overs with their captain Smriti Mandhana leading from the front with her scintillating knock of 80 (50).

Apart from her, Ellyse Perry also chipped in with a brilliant half-century scoring 58 off 37 balls clobbering four fours and as many sixes in her knock. Not only the UP bowlers, but the sponsor car parked in the stadium was also on the receiving side of Perry’s wrath as the right-handed batter broke its window with one of her maximums.

The incident took place on the fifth ball of the 19th over bowled by Deepti Sharma. The Australia all-rounder came down the track and launched the ball for a 76-metre six over the long-on boundary which crashed into the car’s window. The incident left everyone in the stadium awestruck and even Perry gave an adorable reaction as she felt a bit sorry by tapping her head for damaging the car.

Earlier, RCB captain Mandhana got her team off to a great start with opening partner Sabbhineni Meghana (28 off 21) as the duo added 51 runs for the first wicket off 33 balls. Meghana fell prey to Deepti Sharma in the sixth over, however, Perry walked in at number three and piled on the misery for UP.

Mandhana and Perry added 95 runs for the second wicket

Perry and Mandhana got involved in a massive 95-run stand off 64 balls and took RCB’s score past 140. The RCB captain was eventually dismissed for her highest score in WPL playing a knock of 80 (50) studded with ten fours and three sixes.

Following her dismissal, Richa Ghosh (21* off 10) joined Perry at the crease and the duo got involved in another crucial stand of 42 off 18 balls and took RCB to a massive score of 198/3 in 20 overs.
