India batter Jemimah Rodrigues has expressed her faith in the team to perform well in the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, to be played in England in June. India will be coming off their maiden Women’s World Cup triumph in 2025, a tournament in which Rodrigues played a significant role.

“Any player in the team will always want to take up any challenge for the team. If one person is down, it is the responsibility of the other person to lift up the team, and that is what this team does very well. We will continue doing so. That is what we did in the World Cup. So, I think our team is going to do well (in the T20 World Cup),” Rodrigues said at a BCCI media event. 

BCCI Joint Secretary Devajit Saikia announced the 15-member squad for the tournament alongside the captain Harmanpreet Kaur on the evening of May 2. The 24-year-old uncapped fast-bowler Nandni Sharma has been added to the squad after a brilliant season in the 2026 WPL, where she won the Emerging Player award for picking up 17 wickets in 10 games. 

India will start their campaign against Pakistan on June 14, and are placed in group A alongside Australia, Bangladesh, the Netherlands, and South Africa. They will start their preparation for the tournament with a T20I series against England, set to begin on May 28. They are slo set to face England in a one-off Test at Lord’s beginning on July 10, five days after the final of the T20 World Cup. The squad for the same had been announced along with the T20 World Cup squad.
