Shai Hope dissected his personal as well as the team’s performance in the third ODI of the three-match series between West Indies and Pakistan. Notably, Hope’s 18th ODI ton set up a massive 202-run for West Indies. The West Indian skipper shed light on his performance (120* off 94) and the finishing touches Justin Greaves (43* off 24) applied in the death overs.

“It was very important for us to go deep. You want to set the tone in the powerplay. I wanted to give the team the best finish as well. We have struggled at times. We had 270-280 in mind. We had wickets in hand, wanted to capitalise. Justin (Greaves) came in and played well,” stated Hope while speaking at the post-match presentation.

He is a class act: Hope on Seales

The wicketkeeper-batter was all praise of Jaydon Seales’ career-best outing (6/18 in 7.2 overs), mentioning that he was an improved bowler when bowling with the white ball in comparison to Tests.

“We had a pretty complete game today. I am extremely proud. We tend to stress on the negatives. We have been creating history in the last couple of years. Really great to see the guys pulling this off. Jayden (Seales) is a quality bowler. I am more excited about his preparation. He is a class act. He can move the ball both ways. Bowling much better in white-ball cricket,” added Hope.

West Indies scripted history in Tarouba by securing their first-ever bilateral ODI series win against Pakistan after a 34-year wait. They had previously attained a 0-2 win against Pakistan on away turf way back in 1991.

The hosts came back well from a series-opening loss by five wickets to end up on the winning side at the end of the 50-over segment. Pakistan won the T20I series by the same margin.
