Hasan Nawaz disclosed the encouraging message he received from Mohammed Rizwan during the first ODI of the three-match series against West Indies. Nawaz ended up unbeaten on 63 off 54, helping his team secure a five-wicket victory over the hosts.

The 22-year-old, who bagged the Player of the Match accolade for his knock. shared how Rizwan told him to get Pakistan over the line on his ODI debut to mark the special occasion with some special memories.

“It was my debut match, so I was thinking to make it memorable. When me and Rizwan were batting, he was telling me that ‘it’s your debut, you have to finish the match,” When he was walking off after getting dismissed, he said the same thing, ‘you have to finish it’,” shared Nawaz in a video shared by the Pakistan Cricket Board.

Was a lot of help from them, they played a big role in winning the match: Hasan

Hasan credited Babar Azam and Rizwan for guiding the team to a relatively comfortable position after Pakistan lost both their openers by the 12th over.

“So that was the plan, and also I had the confidence from before that in the PSL, I have been finishing matches. That thing was also there that I can get big hits at the end. You learn a lot from Babar bhai, Rizwan bhai; the way they play, they are match-winners. So, we learn a lot from them. There was a lot of help from them, and it played a big role in winning the match. When we lost one or two wickets early, they handled it very well, and later we got the benefit of that,” he added.

Pakistan won the game by five wickets and seven deliveries to spare. Hasan combined with Hussain Talat (41* off 37) to string an unbeaten 104-run stand off just 70 balls. The remaining two matches will be played at the Brian Lara Stadium.
