West Indies and India will start the multi-format one-month-long tour with a two-match Test series beginning from July 12 at Windsor Park, Roseau, Dominica. The series will mark the beginning of the World Test Championship 2023-25 for both teams. India will return to the pitch after one month following their loss against Australia in the final of the World Test Championship 2023.

Following their second consecutive loss in the WTC final, India have made some notable changes in their squad as the BCCI is aiming to revamp the Test side. Youngsters Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad have got their maiden Test call-ups while veteran batter Cheteshwar Pujara has been dropped.

On the other hand, West Indies finished in the second last spot (8th) in the World Test Championship cycle 2021-23. They lost their last Test series against South Africa by 0-2. The island nation has been going through a turbulent time as they failed to qualify for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 scheduled to take place in India. Earlier in 2022, they failed to qualify for the Super 12 stage of the T20 World Cup.

Hence, captain Kraigg Brathwaite will be eager to turn things around for his side in the upcoming series. Notably, the two teams have faced each other in 98 Tests so far where India have won 22 matches while West Indies have won 30 with 46 matches ending in a draw.

India has been unbeaten against the Windies in Tests since 2002 as they’ve won eight consecutive series. West Indies last beat India in a Test in May 2002 in Kingston and hence will be eager to turn things around in the upcoming series.
