India have been unstoppable in the shortest format ever since Suryakumar Yadav took up captaincy, joining hands with head coach Gautam Gambhir.

Suryakumar, who is all set to lead India in the 2026 T20 World Cup, has an impressive captaincy record in the shortest format. Under his captaincy, the Men in Blue have won 28 out of 39 T20Is. In 2025, India have won 16 T20Is and lost just three.

In this article, let’s take a look at the best performers in T20Is for India this year from the players who have been named in the squad for the 2026 T20 World Cup.

Who have been India’s best performers in the past 12 months? Here’s the list

Batters and wicketkeepers

Name Matches Runs Average Strike Rate
Tilak Varma 20 567 47.25 129.15
Sanju Samson 15 222 20.18 126.85
Suryakumar Yadav 21 218 13.62 123.16
Rinku Singh 5 43 21.50 130.30

*Ishan Kishan hasn’t played T20I cricket this year.

All-rounders

Name Matches Runs Average Strike Rate Wickets Bowling Average Bowling Strike Rate
Abhishek Sharma 21 859 42.95 193.46 3 20.66 14
Hardik Pandya 15 302 33.55 153.29 12 29.08 19
Axar Patel 19 183 20.33 118.83 17 19.17 16.50
Shivam Dube 17 191 21.22 152.80 12 17.91 12.70
Washington Sundar 6 93 31 145.31 4 14.25 11

Bowlers

Name Matches Wickets Bowling Average Bowling Strike Rate
Varun Chakaravarthy 20 36 13.19 11.10
Kuldeep Yadav 10 21 10.23 8.70
Arshdeep Singh 12 15 24 16.2
Jasprit Bumrah 13 14 20.92 17.60
Harshit Rana 6 7 24.71 14.50

Therefore, it is quite evident that there have been some magnificent individual performances from the Indian team in the last 12 months. While Abhishek Sharma tops the charts for run-getters for India in T20Is, Varun Chakaravarthy has the joint-most number of wickets among bowlers from Test-playing nations. Other players like Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, and Kuldeep Yadav have also played stellar roles, helping India dominate the format.

With so many in-form players in their ranks, there is no reason why they cannot become the first team to win the T20 World Cup in consecutive editions.
