What is India’s record at Manchester in T20Is?

India will travel to the iconic Old Trafford in Manchester for the second T20I against England on Saturday, July 4, as part of their five-match series. Both sides will be looking to secure a win after the first game was rained off at Chester-le-Street in Durham.

The Men in Blue have played the shortest form of the game across the world. However, the three-time T20 champions have only played twice at Lancashire’s home ground. Despite the lack of games at Old Trafford, India have had some memorable moments playing T20 cricket at the venue. Some of the iconic moments to take place at the venue include Rahul Dravid hitting Samit Patel for three consecutive sixes in his first and last T20I appearance in 2011.

In 2018, KL Rahul scored a memorable hundred, helping India chase down 160 after Kuldeep Yadav took a five-wicket haul in the first innings.

Old Trafford is also a happy hunting ground for England. The Three Lions have suffered just three defeats in Manchester from 13 matches that they have played in. In their previous outing at this ground, England created history by becoming the first team in T20I history to score more than 300 runs against a Full Member, hitting 304 against South Africa. Phil Salt was the star of the show on that occasion, smashing an unbeaten 141 off just 60 balls to win Player of the Match.

The pitch at Old Trafford tends to lean more towards favouring batters, but it also offers nice bounce to the fast bowlers. The conditions in Manchester could be overcast with a small chance of rain, making batting a little difficult to begin with.
