The ODI World Cup 2023 is just a few months away, and as the biggest international tournament in world cricket is is all set to kick off on October 5, the fans would be keen on watching the best of the best teams fighting it out for the coveted world title.

The ICC (International Cricket Council) recently came forward to announce the schedule for the marquee tournament. It was revealed that the finalists of the 2019 World Cup, England and New Zealand, will take on each other in the first game of the competition on October 5 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Led by Temba Bavuma, South Africa would be coming into the tournament as they would look to break the World Cup curse and clinch their first ever title. However, only time will tell how the side prepares itself for Indian conditions and if they are able to shock the world and win the coveted title.

It is worth noting that the 2023 World Cup will be played in a round-robin format, with the top four teams at the end of the group stage qualifying for the knockout stages. A total of 10 teams will be competing in the tournament, with eight already qualified and the remaining two joining based on the results of the ongoing World Cup Qualifiers.

South Africa will kick off their World Cup campaign by taking on the second Qualifying team that will make its way into the competition. They play their first game on October 7 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Notably, the Proteas play two of their matches in Mumbai, with Delhi, Lucknow, Dharamsala, Chennai, Pune, Kolkata, and Ahmedabad hosting one of their matches each.
