The dream run of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru finally came to a standstill as they exited IPL 2024 after receiving a four-wicket defeat at the hands of Rajasthan Royals in the Eliminator. RR successfully chased down RCB’s target of 173 runs, finishing with an entire over to spare. With this defeat, RCB’s quest for an IPL trophy extends, having gone 17 seasons without clinching the title.

Post-match, RCB’s players seemed deflated and sapped, a predictable outcome considering the draining nature of the game on both their bodies and minds.  In a video uploaded by the franchise’s official X handle, key players including Virat Kohli, Faf du Plessis, and Dinesh Karthik were interviewed in the dressing room after the heartbreaking loss. They shared their thoughts on the team’s journey since the beginning of IPL 2024 and acknowledged the fans’ steadfast support and conveyed their sincere appreciation for standing by them throughout the ups and downs of the season.

Faf expressed his disappointment at the loss, considering the remarkable winning streak they had been enjoying, and expressed that he yearned for his team and himself to weave more magic but sadly, it wasn’t to be. Meanwhile, Virat highlighted the team’s commendable comeback after a disappointing start, emphasizing that every member could be proud of their efforts and hold their heads high with the way they they effected a substantial alteration in their trajectory. Karthik echoed similar sentiments, acknowledging the reality of sport’s unpredictability and emphasizing the need to accept both victories and defeats gracefully.
