[WATCH] Sachin Tendulkar seen in tears at Asha Bhosle’s funeral, wife Anjali too gets emotional

Legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar shed an emotional tear at the passing of veteran Indian playback singer Asha Bhosle as the former arrived to pay the final respects to the mortal remains of the latter alongside his wife, Anjali Tendulkar. For the unversed, Bhosle breathed her last at the Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai on Sunday, April 12.

The couple met the family members and other close aides of Bhosle at her residence, Casa Grande, in Lower Parel, where the funeral took place. While Sachin was speaking to the family members, he could be seen wiping his tears, while wife Anjali also got a little emotional at the sudden passing of the singer due to multiple organ failure and a heart attack.

Notably, Sachin had taken to social media as soon as he got the news of the veteran singer’s passing. He expressed his views, saying that “Asha Tai” was like a family to the Tendulkars. Bhosle had made her last public appearance at the wedding of Sachin’s son and LSG cricketer Arjun Tendulkar and Saaniya Chandhok.

“A deeply sad day for India and for music lovers across the world. For us, Asha Tai was family. Today, words feel too small for the loss we feel. One moment the heart falls silent, and the next, it drifts through the countless melodies she gifted all of us. It feels as though time itself has paused. Yet through her eternal songs, she will remain timeless forever,” Tendulkar shared via his official ‘X’ (formerly known as Twitter) handle.

Mohammed Siraj, too, was seen attending the funeral in Lower Parel and kept a face of shock and tears at the residence. For the unversed, Siraj is a friend of Zanai Bhosle, the granddaughter of Asha Bhosle. He was seen consoling Zanai, who could not stop her tears.

BCCI pays tribute to Asha Bhosle

As a moment of tribute to Asha Bhosle, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) also observed a moment of silence ahead of the IPL 2026 match between the Mumbai Indians and the Royal Challengers Bengaluru. All the players, match officials, and other dignitaries present at the venue observed a minute’s silence at the Wankhede Stadium.
