Ravichandran Ashwin produced a moment of genuine craft during the ninth over of the first innings in Match No. 5 of the inaugural European T20 Premier League (ETPL) 2026. The venue was Sportpark Duivesteijn in Voorburg, and the date was Saturday, August 29. Ashwin floated a carrom ball that gripped and spun sharply past an onrushing Moises Henriques, leaving wicketkeeper Benjamin Calitz with a simple stumping to complete the dismissal.
A clip of the delivery circulated on Instagram and drew wide attention for the degree of turn Ashwin extracted from the surface. Henriques, who captains Portugal and qualifies as a European local for Glasgow Cosmic having switched his international allegiance to Portugal, was batting for Glasgow when the ball beat his attempted advance down the pitch.

Ashwin leads the Dublin Guardians in the ETPL 2026, and Calitz is a member of the same squad. The stumping was clean and required no second look from the umpire.
The dismissal, however, did not alter the final outcome. Glasgow Cosmic successfully defended a total of 184, winning the match by 33 runs and leaving Dublin Guardians on the wrong side of the result.
The ETPL 2026 is the inaugural edition of a six-team franchise T20 competition involving clubs from Ireland, Scotland and the Netherlands. The six franchises are Amsterdam Flames, Rotterdam Dockers, Belfast Wolves, Dublin Guardians, Edinburgh Castle Rockers and Glasgow Cosmic. The tournament runs from August 26 to September 20, with the opening leg at the Voorburg Cricket Club in the Netherlands before the competition moves to Malahide Cricket Club in Ireland from September 9.
Ashwin’s Dublin Guardians have not had an ideal start to the campaign. They were beaten by Belfast Wolves in their first game of the season on Thursday by 52 runs. In both matches, Ashwin’s men have conceded totals above 180. They will look to bounce back strongly when they face Edinburgh Castle Rockers on Sunday.
