Mohammed Siraj produced a patient and precise spell of swing bowling to dismiss Ravindu Rasantha by LBW during the three-day warm-up fixture between India and Sri Lanka XI.

Siraj shaped the ball away from the right-hander with four consecutive outswingers, building pressure delivery by delivery, before bringing one back in sharply to trap Rasantha in front of the stumps. The dismissal ended Rasantha’s innings at 8 runs off 16 balls.

Here is the post below:

How Siraj built the dismissal

The dismissal took place on Day 3 of the warm-up match, August 9, 2026, with the fixture having begun on August 7 in Colombo. Siraj had the new ball in hand at the start of Sri Lanka XI’s second innings, with Nishan Madushka taking strike and Rasantha positioned at the non-striker’s end before coming in to bat.

Rasantha had early in the second innings, dismissed at the fall of the first wicket when the score was 9 for 1 in over 4.5. His contribution across the match was not limited to that brief cameo, In the first innings, he scored 71 runs off 143 balls, confirming he was a key batter for the home side in the warm-up fixture.

Speaking about the game, Sri Lanka Cricket XI batted in the first innings and scored 363/8 and declared their innings. India began their innings and scored 357/6 and declared their innings to give some game time for their side’s bowling unit. Devdutt Padikkal scored an unbeaten 142 and Ravindra Jadeja also scored a half-century.

Siraj carries a strong record against Sri Lankan opposition heading into this tour. The right-arm pacer has taken 25 wickets across eight ODIs against Sri Lanka, underlining his effectiveness against this batting group across formats.

The three-day warm-up fixture serves as preparation for India ahead of the main series assignment on the tour. The next confirmed development will be the conclusion of the warm-up match before India turn their attention to the series proper which starts on August 15 at Galle.
